Delivered to a Cheshire sewage works in December 2004, Chemglass manufactued these GRP Aerator covers to replace their existing galvanised mild-steel fittings which had become corroded.

The boards themselves are 6.5m long x 1.5m wide x 0.6m high, and were created as a single-piece moulding. This necessitated the manufacture of a huge mould, as because their rear faces are cut-away they would not be sufficiently rigid were they to be produced in sections , as they could not be flanged. These single units were also advantageous to the client as it made them easier for them to fit. By hooking-up slings onto the lifting points we provided, the client simply dropped each one into its required position, then anchored and sealed them. Both units were fitted in a morning.

Also of note is the fact that due to the cost constraints of the customer, Chemglass delivered the boards to site themselves on a flat trailer. Crossing the Manchester Ship Canal with what were effectively two aeroplane wings in tow was an interesting experience!
